Alumni Mentoring Program FAQ
Who is eligible to be a Mentor?
Any Acacia Alumni in good standing is eligible.
Who is eligible to be a Mentee?
Any graduating senior member of Acacia in good standing is eligible and will be given preference over current undergraduate members.
Who will I be paired with?
You will be paired with a compatible Mentor/Mentee who shares your professional interests.
How much of a time commitment will this be?
This is up to you and your Mentor/Mentee (you could meet every day, once a week, once a month, etc.).
What will the job of a Mentor entail?
The role can be defined however the Mentor deems fit; we suggest giving advice on navigating your professional field, helping the Mentee network in this field, preparing the Mentee for adult life, tips on managing stress, etc.
How will the Mentorship process take place?
We suggest conducting the mentoring through video calls such as Zoom or FaceTime.
Why is there a need for this sort of program?
During this age of lockdowns and quarantines, it can be stressful for recent college graduates to find their footing in the professional world. We hope this program will allow our younger members to find guidance and reassurance as they begin their careers, while also connecting with more of our Alumni in the process.
Why have I not been paired yet?
We are pairing based on availability; if there are more alumni volunteers working in a particular field than graduates seeking a Mentor in that field (or vice versa) then some alumni (or graduates) will not be paired until more graduates (or alumni) register for the program.
