Live-In Advisors
Many members are familiar with the term "House Mom/Dad", which is generally an older person who lives in the house and provides guidance for members in the facility, but "Live-In Advisors" covers all similar types of positions. Often, a graduate student at the university will serve as a live-in advisor to aid in advising the chapter and running the facility. While positions vary in responsibilities and experience requirements, a majority of the duties are shared among all these roles.
General Responsibilities:
Housing
Working with the housing corporation to ensure that repairs or maintenance are reported in a timely manner and with the kitchen to ensure food service for members.
Advising
Advising the undergraduate officers on fraternity and university policies and how to ensure compliance.
Residency
As the name implies, the Residency Advisor is generally required to live in the chapter facility during the academic year.
There are various other responsibilities such as etiquette advising and other duties that vary from chapter to chapter. Compensation for roles varies and must be discussed on a position-by-position basis.
