About the Acacia Fraternity National Housing Corporation

The AFNHC is Acacia’s national housing corporation. The AFNHC can assist local alumni associations and chapter house corporations with chapter housing solutions and services. The AFNHC is a nonprofit corporation based on models and best practices that have been in place with other leading fraternities and sororities in the housing field. The AFNHC:

  1. Recommends chapter housing policies and procedures that maintain safe, quality housing that upholds the values of Acacia Fraternity.

  2. Is available to share professional expertise and advice with local alumni associations and house corporations.

  3. Offers optional housing support and management services through preferred vendor arrangements that can benefit chapters and house corporations.

  4. May accept the voluntary transfer of chapter house ownership or leases from local house corporations that no longer wish to directly manage their chapter houses.

  5. May own, lease, maintain, and manage chapter houses by providing opportunities for alumni to invest in chapter housing to support their local chapter and Acacia Fraternity while receiving a fair return on their investment.

An important AFNHC goal is to ensure Acacia retains chapter house properties when chapters face financial difficulties or become inactive. Once a chapter house is sold, real estate market price increases can make it impossible to afford a future chapter house. The AFNHC can take responsibility for the property to help prevent the loss of a chapter house from temporary financial issues. The AFNHC can also manage vacant chapter houses, ensuring Acacia retains the property for a future return to campus.

The AFNHC, together with the Acacia Fraternity Foundation, are integral parts of the mission of Acacia Fraternity. The AFNHC will handle issues and activities related to housing on behalf of the Fraternity. The Foundation will continue to provide a tax deductible means for alumni to support Acacia’s educational and leadership activities.

As the AFNHC’s assets grow over time, the AFNHC may also be able to:

  1. Obtain chapter housing in advance to support planned colonization and recolonization efforts.

  2. Make loans to house corporations for the non-educational portion of chapter house improvements or purchases.
