Human Service: Leading with Purpose in Our Communities
At Acacia, leadership isn’t confined to the chapter house, it extends into the communities we call home. Guided by our motto of “Human Service,” our members are encouraged to lead with purpose by identifying real needs and making meaningful contributions in partnership with their campus and local organizations.
Each chapter is empowered to determine how they can best serve, whether that’s volunteering with local nonprofits, organizing campus initiatives, or creating new ways to support their neighbors. These efforts aren’t just about checking a box - they’re about building genuine, lasting partnerships and understanding the impact of purposeful leadership.
For students, this means hands-on experience in leading change. For parents, it’s reassurance that your student is part of something bigger; developing the skills, empathy, and values that define lifelong success.
making a Measurable Impact
Acacia chapters across North America live out our motto of “Human Service” by turning values into action. Together, we’ve raised millions of dollars for charitable causes and contribute hundreds of service hours every year - not because we have to, but because leading with purpose means stepping up for others.
For students, it’s a chance to develop leadership skills while making a real difference. For parents, it’s knowing your student is part of a brotherhood that prioritizes character, compassion, and community impact.
Acacia's Motto and Guiding Principle
Human Service. It is more than just Acacia's motto; it is something that our members put into practice in impressive fashion in numerous ways. From hundreds of hours spent in the community to thousands of dollars raised for noble causes, Acacia brothers find great significance and enjoyment in serving others.
Acacia's International service projects include the Acacia Claus holiday toy drive and Seven Days of Service, and our international philanthropic partner is Shriners Hospitals for Children. The majority of Acacia chapters participate in at least one of these projects annually.
Further, Acacia's chapters put forward incredible independent efforts through unique projects and fundraisers. A short list of chapter projects include: Ohio Chapter's 5cacia 5k run/walk, which raises tens of thousands of dollars annually for pancreatic cancer research; California (PA) Chapter's Operation Snowflake in which members shovel neighborhood driveways in the winter; Penn State Chapter's impressive THON fundraising efforts; and dozens of others.
