Managing Acacia’s
Chapter Houses

Well run and maintained chapter houses are essential to reflecting Acacia’s values to prospective members, parents, and the community. They are also a source of pride to alumni; command respectful and responsible undergraduate behavior; and ensure safety and legal compliance

Acacia’s chapter houses are also its largest financial investments and need to be stewarded well. The dedicated alumni volunteers who run Acacia’s chapter house corporations are invaluable and chapter houses could not succeed without their efforts.

However, not all alumni have the expertise needed to manage a chapter house.

The AFNHC was created to enable Acacia’s alumni volunteers to be in the fraternity advising business and not in the real estate and property management business. House corporations must comply with complex regulations and financial liabilities. The AFNHC’s volunteer alumni directors have years of real estate, property management, and house corporation experience and can provide advice at no charge.

To provide additional assistance to Acacia’s chapter house corporations, the AFNHC has negotiated discounted fees and a preferred service provider agreement with Alpha Fraternity Management.

Alpha has been helping fraternity house corporations since 1989 on 61 campuses. Alpha currently provides services to Acacia’s Washington State and Wisconsin chapters. Working with Alpha is optional, and house corporations can sign up for all or just some of Alpha’s services. In addition to chapter house property management, Alpha offers a wide range of services for house corporations from budgeting to financial analysis, to managing room leases and rent collection, recruiting house directors, contracting for food services, building project management, financial management, accounting, and tax preparation.

Alpha’s licensed property managers, contractors, and real estate brokers can also assist house corporations with condition assessments, property improvement and preventative maintenance planning, building projects, and locating, leasing, or purchasing chapter houses.
